Seems a shame to break such a chain of interviews, and hopefully I wont get cookie privlidges revoked for doing so :D

I'm Ellif,  a newer member of Lotus Fleet, who took a chance on signing up after working through the academy and browsing the forums and shoutbox. Gotta say while larger groups especially so well organised can seem a little off putting when you glance in, i'm glad I took that chance. It's great fun, easy going and there's only Storm who's scary

You're right, Ellif....Storm can be scary at times.

My ev idence is the LF Shoutbox. If you sit there and read, she is the consumate disciplinarian. Enforcing rules and standards to the highest degree. Be respectful and always follow orders....you will be fine.

 :startrek098:

Thank you, Ambassador! Though I don't come near the standards of our Klingon FLeet Mom! :)

Interview with Commander Crist, Professor of Tactical/Security Lotus Fleet Academy

Where are you from:

I’m from Harrisonburg, VA, in the USA

When did you join Lotus Fleet:

22nd January 2009

Favorite Star Trek series and/or movie:

Ah, I think my favorite series would have to be DS9, it was a different show from the rest and I really enjoyed the fleet battles that was in the Dominion War, as for movie I guess I’ll go with the Wrath of Khan

Favorite Star Trek Captain:

I'll go with Sisko, he's someone who will do what is needed to be done

Favorite Star Trek ship:

Sovereign Class

Favorite Star Trek character:

Data, you just can't hate him, if you did, it would be like hating a little kid lol

Favorite Star Trek uniforms:

Hmm I would have to good with the Wrath of Khan ones, got to love those classic maroon uniforms

Which actor/character would you kick out of Star Trek:

I hate to be like everyone else, but I would have to say Wesley, I really despise him, I should have beamed onboard the enterprise long ago and shot him rofl

What is the story behind your name:

It's my last name, figured, why not be me in game and in the trek universe

What position do you have in Lotus Fleet:

I'm a Commander and Professor of Tactical and Security of our fair Academy.  O, I torture the academy cadets with tactical and security info, lol.  Naw, I write courses for my field and help the cadets out as best I can.

Give us your opinion of the Chain of Command in Lotus Fleet:

It’s great. It feels like a Starfleet chain of command in function, yet it’s easy going so we can all get along and remain friends, no matter what position you’re in.

What is your RP role in Lotus Fleet:

O duh, I Rp as Lt. Daniel Crist, Chief Security Officer, USS McKenzie

How do you spend your time within the Fleet:

Helping out the cadets and working on new courses for the Academy, hanging out in the shout box and trying to beat some high scores in the arcade lol

Is there anything you would like to change in the current structure:

Nope, it’s great as it is.

Do you have any siblings:

Yeah, one younger brother

Does he share your interest in Star Trek:

Not really, I don’t think he’s much of a sci-fi fan, though he is into mmo’s, mostly the fantasy type.  He may try out STO since I know he played SWG long ago, though he may only play for a month and quit, I doubt he’ll stay.

What has drawn you to Lotus Fleet:

I was looking at the STO forums and was bored at the time, thought it would be a good idea to join up with a fleet then rather than wait for the game to come out.  That way I would get a feel for the group and make friends easier, instead of join in game and trying to remember who’s who and who would be willing to help a complete stranger.

Well I did take a look at others, like some of the numbered fleets, UFP and a few others, but when I came to lotus fleet, there site was great and the academy was also interactive, but mostly it seemed to have a great membership, and I made friends with much of them quickly.

What does Lotus Fleet mean to you:

An awesome group where you can make friends easily and will be a leading force in game.

Where do you see Lotus Fleet in five years:

O I’m sure the Fleet will still be in game in five year, I see it very large, and all the other fleet will cower in fear at its sight.

Where do you see yourself in five years:

Ah not sure, I hope I’m in a job that I love, and maybe a girlfriend or wife, other than that, only time will tell.

Biggest fear/phobia:

Ah I don't think I have a big fear of anything, I mean I can get scared or whatever, but I usually able to stand up to it.

Your passion in life:

Ah, games, whether there computer or console, maybe acting, and talking with everyone here on the forums.

Highlight in your life:

I guess I’ll go with acting, I’m thinking of doing that as a major.

One thing nobody knows about you:

I'm very shy.

Describe yourself in 5 words:

Shy, Funny, Helpful, Energetic, and Nice.

Do you have a motto? A quote, to share:

There was a bummer sticker I saw long ago that said, “Don’t sweat the small stuff”.

Advice for new members:

Stay active and communicate, either on the shout box or the forums, this fleet is a great way to make friend and to have a great time.

I couldn't agree more, I decided to join while still do the academy course, with a fleet or group lotus' size it's easy to think that it will take a while to get anywhere beyond a basic member. Couldn't be further from the truth though, I was active on forums and our shoutbox. Made a few friends and just generally enjoyed my first few days there, soon as I expressed a desire to become involved I was encouraged to look at what I wanted to do and I was good at and apply for a position.

If you just want to a member, enjoy the atmosphere and (once it launches) the game then it's  a great place. But if you want to do more for the running of the fleet they're more than happy to encourage you to put your talents to use.

Interview with Captain Kheren, Fleet Ambassador of Lotus Fleet

Where are you from:

Quebec, Canada

When did you join Lotus Fleet:

11 May 2009

-Favorite Star Trek series and/or movie:

Series: TNG because it covered so much ground within the Star Trek Universe. Movie would be the Search for Spock because of its celebration of friendship, heroism and freedom of thought and action.

-Favorite Star Trek Captain:

Jonathan Archer; he embodies the boldness of Kirk, the Humanity of Picard, the scientific mind of Janeway and the team savvy of Sisko; and he didn't have any Starfleet of even a federation to back up his idealism and actions. He practically made them alive on the spot!

-Favorite Star Trek ship:

Canon ship: the Prometheus class for its versatility. Non-canon ship: the Achilles class (broadsides matee!)

-Favorite Star Trek character:

Tough one: there are so many good ones in Star Trek, it’s the very essence of it... let's see...  I would say The Doctor. Rich personality, a compelling story of self-fulfillment... and he's one of the rare characters looking close to my own age LOL

-Favorite Star Trek uniforms:

Definitely TOS. You don't need an Andorian's quadriscopic vision like you need to just to see little rank pips on a slim colored collar of a dull grey and black uniform in order to know who that officer is shouting at you from the upper catwalk.

Which actor/character would you like to kick out of Star Trek:

Actors, none. They have worked to bring those characters to life and I thank them. As for characters: definitely the shame of Starfleet, the criminal Benjamin Sisko!

What is the story behind your name:

I tried to log on STO forums with the name of the Human character I played in a RP Star Trek game but it didn't work (long composite name). So looking for something else, ''Kheren'' popped up into my mind.

As it didn't sound quite ''human'' or mundane, the image of an Andorian popped up next into my mind and I decided to be one since the race was classic ST. Only afterwards did I research the race and boy did I strike gold!

What is your position in Lotus Fleet:

Within the fleet, I am Fleet Ambassador with the rank of Captain. I've been called Admiral Elijah Leandros, our Director of Foreign Policies’ second in command... but I'm not sure he knows that yet!

My main duty is to keep contact and ensure good relations with prospective allies and second the Director in evaluating potential agreements. I also maintain a positive visibility of our fleet with all visiting officers of other fleets and supervise the work of Ministers of diplomacy and Consulars.

What is your RP role in Lotus Fleet:

On the RP thread, I am chief of security /tactical aboard the flagship, the USS Lotus, with the rank of Ensign, although acting Captain Felez wanted to grade me up to Lt JG but the admiralty vetoed against it because of my inexperience.

Do you have any siblings:

Three brothers and one sister, all younger than me.

Do they share your interest in Star Trek:

They all do... and so does my father.

Just watching, or do they participate in RP and games:

My siblings all did some RP and played video games and table games about Star Trek at one time or another. We had huge Starfleet battle tournaments at home years ago... ah the good ole days!

What has drawn you to Lotus Fleet:

Destiny I believe... which is funny because i do not believe in Destiny :D I came off from trying myself in a few fleets that lacked this very delicate mixture of fun and seriousness I was looking for... Then I decided to try the Lotus Fleet Academy because it was offered with no strings attached and looked very thorough...I read the CoC... found it a reality on the forums. Again I struck gold!

What does Lotus Fleet mean to you:

By nature, I am a very solitary, independent, autonomous person. I do not seek groups and crowds and socializing is not one of my priorities. But within Lotus Fleet, I found an exceptional group of extraordinary people sharing the same interests and passion in a respectful, yet friendly and easy going manner. Look for example at Storm Windfall... ;) That says it all.

Where do you see Lotus Fleet in five years:

Eh, I can't even tell what I am going to eat for supper! But as a wish based on present facts: the premier Fleet in STO and a major Star Trek community.

Where do you see yourself in five years:

Again a wish based on current facts: a new author arriving on the literary scene

Give us your opinion of the Chain of Command in Lotus Fleet:

A true to life CoC: perfectly structured and efficient because rank there means responsibilities, not just prestige bestowed on a whim. That goes for the RP ranks as well.

Is there anything you would like to change in the current structure:

Not really... although I have a great liking for the title of Commodore. It should replace the ugly title of Rear Admiral.

Biggest fear/phobia:

As the Klingons of the other faction's fleet will tell you: I am utterly fearless.

Your passion in life:

Besides the obvious (Star Trek): martial arts, movies and literature.

Highlight in your life:

You mean besides that interview? Meeting and training with the Founder of Taekwon-Do, the late General Choi Hong Hi.

One thing nobody knows about you:

And it will stay unknown..

Describe yourself in 5 words:

Loyal, open-minded, patient, free-spirited, creative

Do you have a motto? A quote, to share:

Be serious... but never take yourself too seriously.

Advice for new members:

Enjoy as much as you can what the fleet has to offer. Lotus Fleet is, from the Academy to the chain of command, the closest thing to Starfleet you will ever find.
