Of course! Is there any other way? :)

Interview with Vice Admiral Niomo Lire, Command Division CO Lotus Fleet

Where are you from? When did you join Lotus Fleet?

I'm from New Jersey and I joined Lotus Fleet back in March 08. This was right after PE fell on its face and we had no idea if STO was ever going to come.

-Favorite Star Trek series and/or movie:

Hmm. TNG is definitely my favorite series. I grew up with it and I always found those episodes to be the perfect mix of action science and plot development. I haven't seen many of the Trek movies, so i really don’t have a favorite

-Favorite Star Trek Captain:

Picard. The man never knows when to say Die and always pulls through for his crew. He also enjoys running around in tights and screaming about lights. What's not to love? :P In addition, unlike some of the other captains, he knew when to put down his diplomacy hat and PEW PEW PEW. Classic Awesomeness in my opinion

-Favorite Star Trek ship:

Hmm. I really don’t have a favorite specific ship. I do love the Akira class though. It goes back to when i first purchased ST: Armada 1. It came with some trading card of an Akira class and since then has been my ship of choice, and will most likely be my STO ship...assuming it’s not a low tier

-Favorite Star Trek character:

Worf. He is not a merry man and does not hesitate to say it XD (if you couldn’t tell, the Robin Hood TNG episode is one of my favorites). He’s always ready to backhand someone who gets out of line, but at the same time he also has all the qualities of a good person and friend. He’s also pretty good in bar fights.

-Favorite Star Trek uniforms:

I’d say it’s a tossup between the VOY and First Contact uniforms. Both are pretty nice and aren't really unpleasant to look at. The First Contact model looks more militarists whereas the VOY looks more like for exploration. Or at least in my mind: P

Which actor would you kick out of Star Trek:

Heh. That's a tough one. I'd go with either Kate Mullgrew or Will Wheaton. I despised both Wesley and Janeway, so if either of them vanished from the shows, i would not be saddened. I jumped for joy when i found out Janeway was killed in one of the books

What is your position in Lotus Fleet:

I am Chief of Pie Manufacturing and Distribution.  I also moonlight as the Command Division CO.

I basically make sure that my division is running as smoothly as possible, and in addition, i get to create some awesome new ideas for everyone to talk about and eventually see come to life. It’s pretty awesome to have something written down on paper like "make new website" and then have different departments around the fleet come together and make that piece of paper become a real thing that looks like something CBS should have designed for one of the series

How did you choose your name:

Back in the day my father and I were playing Star Wars: Galaxies. My dad tends to play late at night while I’m asleep (which is usually why he always finishes leveling first -.-), and when I woke up I had found that he had created a new character on the server he was on for me so we could play together. (My "main" was on a different server with some RL friends). His name was Niomo Lire, and the name really just stuck. "Ni-o-moe Leer" A lot of people pronounce it wrong. We had just gotten back from Italy, and the Lira was still in use at the time, but my dad said Lira was too girly for a last name in a game, so he changed it XD

What has drawn you to Lotus Fleet:

The people. Back when I joined back in 08, there were only about...10 people. First person i talked to was nova. He pretty much sealed the deal with my application, as he assured me that Lotus Fleet would one day be the best fleet in the nonexistent game. Ever since I have met a ton of great people who have all sorts of interesting and exciting tales about their lives, star trek, or just funny stories they have heard about things. And of course, camel spiders.

What does Lotus Fleet mean to you:

Lotus Fleet means great friends and a lot of late nights spent laughing about absolutely nothing while we wait for what i hope to be one of the best MMOs of our time. Once the game comes out, I hope that Lotus Fleet will be synonymous with "Bad Ass M--s" as we cruise down the Warp Lanes of some sector, all enemies fleeing in fear. Bwahahaha.

Where do you see Lotus Fleet in five years:

Hmm. I see Lotus Fleet becoming the "Death and Taxes" of STO (For those that do not know, Death and Taxes are a World of Warcraft Guild who are known worldwide as the first guild to usually clear a new instance when Blizzard pushes it out. They have had their pictures put into PC Gamer and other Gaming Magazines. Their guild name is known throughout WOW as the best of the best of the best. I also think they get paid :D)

Errrr, anyway, yeah. I expect that in 5 years Lotus Fleet will be the cream of the crop for STO Fleets, and not only becoming more recognized by Cryptic, but possibly even by CBS. Star Trek: Lotus Fleet Series anyone? Also, this goes without saying, in 5 years, we will solidify our position as the Bad Ass M--s of all the STO Federation Fleets

Where do you see yourself in five years:

Hmm well in 5 years i hope to be married or at least close (I’m seeing a trend in our Flag Officer's futures) But besides that, I assume that as long as I enjoy STO, i will still be with Lotus Fleet, and even if i am not a member, i still plan on hanging around the shoutbox and talking to people. I also expect to be able to fly on a jetpack. Go science people, make it happen!

Biggest fear/phobia:

Anyway, my biggest phobia is probably a fear of drowning. I like swimming though. I don’t like being dropped into a lake with a cement shoe :O

Your passion in life:

Video Gaming. I love being able to do things that I’d never be able to do in real life.

Highlight in your life:

Graduating College last May, and two days later getting accepted into Grad School for my Masters of Accountancy

One thing nobody knows about you:

I'm a bigger Star Wars fan than Star Trek fan. Back in the day I could recite lines from IV-VI, and i knew the technical schematics for most of the vehicles and weaponry.

Tell us about your collection of souls:

Ahaha. My collection of souls. Basically any time I see someone's picture I take their soul. Oh, hey, your picture is in Skype. Yoink. Thanks, into the bag it goes :D. It’s a game that my friends and I used to play with our milk boxes after lunch. We'd draw a face on our box and hide it somewhere. We'd then spend the rest of the period trying to find each other’s box. My secret spot was the best: the garbage can. I never lost :D I currently have 27 souls in the bag

Describe yourself in 5 words:

Funny, Charming, Gamer, Otaku, Zombie-Hunter

Do you have a motto? A quote, to share:

"Go for the Eyes, Boo! Go for the Eyes!" ~Minsc from Baldur's Gate. Boo is Minsc's Miniature Giant Space Hamster pet.

Advice for new members:

Come to the meetings with a microphone and no fear of talking! I found the best way to get to know people is to converse with them and just talk about random things. While we are all fans of Star Trek, we also have other things we are fans of, like Video Games and maybe other MMOs. Some of the best times i remember are the Flag officers meeting up every so often and just shooting the breeze for 2-3 hours. Talk about relaxing and hilarious.

So, are these Storm interviews under the guise of 'Freedom of the Press'? Or more of a Paparazzi type venue? heh heh

Underhanded tactics by high placed officers revealed LOTUS FLEET SHOUT-BOX – It is early in the night, Stardate 63254.2 to be exact, (October 15, 2009 for those of you un-familiar in standard Federation time calculations, tsk, tsk) when this reporter gets wind of a possible conspiracy that goes straight to the heart of the fleet.
It all began with the innocent distribution of circular, chocolate and sugar treats (cookies for the primitive mind) by our own fearless leader Fleet Admiral Lrdnova. But when I sought the reason behind this kindness, I found the reasoning to be more rotten and evil then you might realize. I am talking, of course, about an attempt by the Keebler elves to take over the fleet.
“No comment,” said Admiral Lrdnova when I asked him for straight up information. When I pressed further, the calculating Admiral said, “I cannot confirm or deny the existence of pointy eared tree dwelling creatures.”
A sneaky Admiral hiding the reality of a possible evil behind what can be perceived as truth cannot stop a dedicated reporter from trying to find a way
to completely blow the threat out of proportion.
“The Keebler elves are real threats to society,” said a professor who is an expert on the habits and natures of fictional advertising characters and in no way someone paid money to talk to us. “They like to make you think you‟re only eating their delicious cookies, then they strike.”
“How do they strike?” I asked, hoping to get to the bottom of this hypothetical and imaginary threat to all existence.
“They wait until you‟re eating their cookies, normally you‟re at your com-puter mindlessly typing some long article or some-thing, then they come through the computer lines,” the professor said. “It‟s then that they steal your soul!”
“That sounds horrible,” I said.
“It is,” the professor said. “Your soul is important.”
With this new information, I confronted our noble Admiral once again, seeking to find the truth behind the veiled threats he has made.
“Lotus Fleet is not responsible for the actions of tree dwelling creatures that may or may not exist and the affects they may have
on your computer,” he said, brushing me off once again. And once again, not one to be easily deterred, I pressed him.
“Then you are not denying the possibility that Keeblers can have an adverse affect on fleet members‟ computers?” I asked. The Admiral eyed me slyly which only suggested that he was hiding something from me. Something evil.
