Interview with SCPO Driam, Lotus Fleet Task Force
Where are you from:
Born and raised in the dark woods of Jönköping municipality, Sweden.
When did you join Lotus Fleet:
03 May 2008. When the Gemini fleet froze up.
Favorite Star Trek series and/or movie:
Enterprise, no question. That would probably have to be First contact, though there are a few of them that I haven't seen.
Favorite Star Trek Captain:
I'll have to go with Archer. Sisko's pretty kickass too, but that wasn't until the 4th season of DS9. Archer was one bad mother throughout his run.
Favorite Star Trek ship:
The Defiant. It was literally so badass that it almost blew itself apart.
Favorite Star Trek character:
I like Phlox, because of his optimism and sense of humor, I like Archer because he's a great leader who's not afraid to bad stuff to people when it benefits himself, I like Worf because he's Worf and I like Kira cuz she's hot.
Favorite Star Trek uniforms:
The MACOs'. The MACO's were a bunch of soldier guys that they brought onto enterprise in season 3 because they needed some guys who were more badass than the security officers. They wore a black uniform.
Which actor/character would you kick out of Star Trek:
Seven of nine, on the condition that it would make it so that Kes stayed on and they didn't do all that Borg b****p.
What is the story behind your name:
Many years ago, I was playing this fantasy MMO. I needed a name that sounded all fantasy-ish and stuff, but not in that pansy manner of stuff like "Darksword" or "Silverfang". So I came up with "Driam" because it was short, abstract and easier to pronounce for the guys I played shooters with back then.
Do you participate in Role Play:
Well, my character's name is Chayana Driam, chief medical officer of the Lotus.
Give us your opinion of the Chain of Command in Lotus Fleet:
It works, I guess. I don't really have an OPINION about it.
How do you spend your time within the Fleet:
Role-playing, occasionally hanging around the shoutbox.
Is there anything you would like to change in the current structure:
There's some stuff about the shoutbox and maybe some stuff in the general orders, but other than that it's fine.
Some lightening up of or clarification on the rule about harsh language in the box. The other day one of my post was deleted because I said that something was "kickass". I also remember the general orders or something saying that members aren't allowed to engage in stuff like "camping" in games, a restriction that I find irrational.
It's a tactical term used primarily in first-person-shooters that refers to the act of sitting tight and hiding somewhere, waiting for an enemy to run by so that you can pop him.
Do you have any siblings:
A sister.
Does she share your interest in Star Trek:
Not that I know of.
What has drawn you to Lotus Fleet:
The fact that Gemini got put on hold and someone said "Hey, we're doing this thing over here now!"
What does Lotus Fleet mean to you:
It's a place where I go to buff up my english by role-playing.
Where do you see Lotus Fleet in five years:
Either dead or focused on other games than STO or like today except with more members.
What is your position in the Fleet:
Senior chief petty officer in the Task Force
Where do you see yourself in five years:
Unemployed, mooching off of the state. In terms of the fleet, I'll probably be gone. Unless STO is the greatest game ever made and has what it takes to keep me hooked for 4 years.
Biggest fear/phobia:
Spiders tend to freak me out, though I am starting to get around that.
Your passion in life:
Video games
Highlight in your life:
When I got into BTH, I guess. Blekinge Institute of Technology.
One thing nobody knows about you:
I think that Timeshift and Excite truck are better games than Bioshock and Burnout paradise.
Describe yourself in 5 words:
Eat, sleep, and breathe, video games. I'm 54 kgs of anger and bone who likes to play video games, code nonsense in XNA, worry about whether someone's gonna steal my bike and get drunk with my fellow students.
Do you have a motto? A quote, to share:
"Fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate, hate leads determination, determination brings victory, and victory is life."
Advice for new members:
Don't say "kickass" in the shoutbox.
