I wouldn't say they kept us supplied with a lot of sneak peaks, but they did try and keep us into the loop... the problem is they'd fall off the raidar a few times and we'd hear nothing from them just as the rest of the community would. They were good guys but someone at the top realy didn't think things out, and hence Cryptic is creating STO now.

Well Jadon gave me the ok, some of you may have seen these in the past but honestly I doubt it... this was my first look at PEs version of STO

I'd never seen that first one either, I quite like it though.

Without derailing the topic at hand to much I will point out you can clearly see an XP bar at the top of the screen on both pictures from PE. With that said if Cryptic is using a lot of source material from the PE development its likely we're going to see levels in the game. Now I will point out that games like EQ1-2 have done a system where you have levels (which effect skill caps, HPs, MP/Energy) and skills which effect your ability to do things in the game, so hopefuly Cryptic does a nice mix of systems if they chose to go with the level system (which seems likely as CoX is a level based game).

Well Champions Online is both skill point and level based. I would imagine it would be something like Guild Wars where when you level up you get more skill points to spend in the skills you have chosen.

True, though I will admit I always love those games that increase your skill by actualy using said skill... so if you want more skill in phaser tech, you need to mess around with a phaser... that kinda thing. The problem with that in the past, which if Cryptic goes with that system is being careful not to allow it to become a grindfest.

I am loving on the screen shots for STO and can't wait until they reveal the game play video on August 10th.  I didn't mind the look before and can only drool in anticipation to see what Cryptic does with this, how far they will take the graphics and game play.  Go Cryptic Go!  :huhyes:
