Ah true, but what I speak of is with the incident in regards of a legal issue that has circulated around the Internet, and could be spun as a form of brutal civil actions by Cryptic. (For the record, I’m not implying that, but someone could or may have done so).
Though of Cryptic and a Publisher, Cryptic is self-publishing Champions-Online, so it may be possible (but not enough to counter your thought, I'll agree) that STO would follow the same.
Now there has been that situation of, “well there are a number of other possible candidates, that are in the Bay Area with the same legal firm.” So there is the process of elimination route.
With the following specifications:
- Location (“Bay Area” – San Francisco, CA USA)
- Legal Firm (MoFo, inc)
- PC MMO projects
- Reputation (I think we can agree that CBS wants a company with a proven track record this time)
A number of the possible companies that are in the Bay Area and have the same legal company can be disqualified right off the bat:
- Lucas Arts and Star Trek…. errr, maybe if Lucas ever wanted to buy out Star Trek and own it.
- Nihilsitic (and other such companies) only work on console games. A PC MMO is out of the business scope.
- Major Companies, such as EA and SEGA are not developers and have little involvement (or like) for PC MMO’s
And I bet, Alter Ego willing, that I can disqualify all other bay area developers.
Bring ‘em up, I stand ready.
