I hope this helps some of you guys formulate some creative questions that fall within Awen area of respocibility with regards to STO and Cryptic

Hi there! If you haven't read my announcement already, please allow me to re-introduce myself to you. My name is Nicole Hamlett and you may either call me Nicole or Awen, whichever you prefer.

I am the new Lead Community Representative for Star Trek Online. Before you ask, no I have not replaced Razor. I'm simply leading the Star Trek Online community team. You may have already met me as the Community Manager for Jumpgate Evolution. I was the OCR for that title before making the move to Cryptic Studios. If so, it's a pleasure to see you again. If not, I really look forward to working with you all to make sure that not only does everyone know about this incredible game, but that we make this community a place where all Sci-Fi and Star Trek fans are welcome.

I'll be doing a Meet the Team bio within the next few weeks and you will get a more in-depth look into who I am and what my goals are. In the meantime, here is the brief scoop.

When I moved here, I was hoping that I’d be working with this community in particular.. I've been a Star Trek fan since watching my first episode of Star Trek: The Animated Series. From there it was a logical leap to Star Trek: TNG. I was simply hooked. I've always been fascinated with outer space and the Star Trek ideals shaped not only imagination, but my way of thinking. I often use the phrase - "In a Star Trek world..." I cannot begin to describe how excited I am to be able to live out my dreams in a virtual Star Trek universe; it leaves me breathless with anticipation.

I'm certain that I will learn much from this community and it is my hope that I can help you navigate both Star Trek Online, and other fascinating Star Trek trivia while I'm here with you.

It may be cheesy, but it is my greatest hope that we all can bring this franchise to the next generation of gamers and fans world-wide.

Cheers!

Thanks Irdnova for that post, to be honest I was not sure what I should be asking.

Well Nicole, if you read this I do hope you enjoy your tenure at Cryptic and with the rest of us  :)

You mentioned something about your goals and I was wondering what some of those might be, if you would be willing to elaborate?

With Infogrames now onboard, does this mean, we will be seeing the hiring of some of the writers from the shows to help out with production?

Does this also mean we will be seeing an increase in production on STO now that cryptic has been purchased and therefore, will we be seeing more updates on the progress of the game?

I would just like to ask, will it be possible to have starships which can and do seperate in to different segments (eg Galaxy class). If so how would controlling the seperate segments be accomplished?

Awen, regarding your experience as a community manager for two anticpated sci-fi MMOs, what do you feel are the strengths of each product?

Can you give us some anecdotes on how different the two were the game company environments feel?

One of my biggest gripes with World of Warcraft is its many-servers layout.  I meet people all the time who play and I'd love to play alongside them, but they're always on a different server than I am.  EVE solves this problem by using one big server, which unfortunately can lead to overcrowding; Guild Wars compromises by making copies of its instanced cities which users can switch between at the drop of a hat.  What kind of server/shard layout will Star Trek Online use to ensure game stability and maximum connectivity between users?

Hi Nicole,

Does the acquisition by Infogrames increase funding for things like securing Voice Acting by the actors from the series?

I also had a question about missions in the game.

At times Star Trek has mixed humor into its stories, it wasn't always serious. I was wondering if there will be some humorous elements mixed into some of the missions we'll play?

thanks!

Another question: I've noticed that Razor is no longer listed as a moderator and there have no indication he was leaving or let go. Razor was a very well liked member of the community, was he let go?? or reassigned within the company? What is his current status?

I don't think I saw anyone ask this question and I don't exactly expect an answer, but on the off chance I'm wrong... Well here goes...

"What or how much should we be looking at as a cost of monthly fees for this game, if that is still the case, and if STO is still being considered for use on a gaming console will that pricing be different, seeing as how to my recollection I have never paid anything in fees for a console game?"
