What do you think of our current website and forum design?

I am currently considering another redesign of the website and forum - but I thought I'd try and get some feedback first.

There is a poll above, can you please let us know what you think of the current site and forum?

I really like the site and the layout.  I like how everything is easily accessible from the nav bar on top. The forum program and customization is great and the shout box is a must.  However something about the design feels a little 2001, it's hard to say.
 
I also think the home page could do with a more obvious welcome graphic that shouts "YOU HAVE ARRIVED AT HAILING FREQUENCY".  As it is now, when you get to the homepage you see an ad that confuses the visitor as where they've landed.

most importantly, the content and information found in this site is unlike any other. Thanks to the HF team for all your work.

Would you say that if we kept the same general layout, but with an updated and more modern design - then we would be hitting the nail on the head?

yeah, that's a good way to sum it up - just a new coat of paint.

Also, I've noticed recently that the "users in chat" app in the Info Center forum is posting twice. Anyone else getting that?

yeah I saw that too but didn't think much of it at the time  :p

the only thing which need to change according to me is that if you import a bit of animation in the site. because the animation does attracts alot so as the name of your website too... i think this would be a good thing to innovate if you really consider it. thanks
