A couple of people asked about our post ranking system, so here is a breakdown of the ranks:

RANKS                 POSTS NEEDED

Cadet 4th Class                     0
Cadet 3rd Class                     10
Cadet 2nd Class                     20
Cadet 1st Class                      40
Ensign                                  75
Lieutenant Junior Grade        150    
Lieutenant                          400
Lieutenant Commander         750

Commodore                      3000
Rear Admiral                      4000

 I was at Commander rank "over there"...and waas at 1,790 posts. I am just thinking, if you are awaiting two years ( lord forbid) for the ST:O MMO to come online, that is about the time it took me to get to 1500 posts...and I don't post that much!

I will consider this. Realistically i cannot ever see anyone getting that high, and goals need to be attainable so people strive for them.....right?!

normally i'd agree, but with any ranking on forums, if you set to low, you get people who post just to get to the top, if you want nice ranks to award people, but keep people from just posting to post, you need to find the right balance between to low and to high. i'm sure my suggestion is somewhat to high, as i'd never expect anyone to get 5 million posts in a reasonable time. ;)

Okay, just to try and set a balance between the highs and the low's...:). I feel that the gaining of Ensign rank should come fairly quickly, however one cannot conceivably expect to reach captain rank very easily. Jon had only one (perhaps two) Captain rank posters after all the time he was online!

I see no need for an Ambassador or Council Member rank, but I threw in Fleet Admiral just in case. One could I suppose also inseret a Fleet Captain if one wanted to raise the bar a little more.

I gota say its fine where it is, people arn't grinding away at posting like its some game so perodical rewards are a good thing. When someone reaches the max new ranks can be made, but I think its fine where it is, very few people even at STO.net broke the 1000 mark... heck I was one I was at 980ish. I say keep it where it is and add ranks if needed, mabey you could add commidor, rear admiral, and other various "inbetween" ranks.
